"I tend to gravitate towards more unconventional themes and look towards what isn’t liked and question why."

What is your graduation project about?

My graduation collection strives to revalue forgotten and unused polyester. This revaluing process uses deconstruction, material manipulation and print visuals – from other undesired objects such as household waste – to transform these once ignored items into a luxury fashion context.

How do you best like to work?

My year was quite a small group which meant that we found ourselves using the studio space a lot and supporting each other especially through this last year. Through working online for the majority of my third year I really wanted to take advantage of these spaces, and as a result would often stay very late.

Can you tell us about some of the things which inspire you and your work?

I tend to gravitate towards more unconventional themes and look towards what isn’t liked and question why. I enjoy changing perceptions which really lead me to changing the perceptions of polyester.

What have been the highlights of your time at ECA and Edinburgh?

Throughout my time at ECA I really enjoyed how comfortable I would feel in the facilities, I would never be afraid to go into the print room or dye lab and try an idea. Even going into different departments to get advice this year, was really helpful and allowed my project to thrive. Edinburgh is such a gorgeous city with so much energy and living in it provided an inspiration source for some of my projects.

How have the events of the past two years affected your work?

Working online in my third year to almost being back to normal in my fourth year really allowed my work ethic and aesthetic to become versatile. I can be comfortable working and producing work both online and in person.

Have you got plans for after graduating?

I am currently looking to get a textile internship or assistant position in the luxury fashion market, but until then I am looking to take a couple of months abroad in South America to explore my Spanish skills.
