Project description

'Structures' is a 4 track progressive metal EP I composed, recorded, mixed and mastered for my final composition portfolio. The music demonstrates the various musical elements that regularly inspire me from thrash metal influenced riffs, to ambient passages, virtuosic guitar solos and electronic music. 'Structures' will release on streaming services and bandcamp by the end of this summer.

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland and educated at the University of Edinburgh, Nicholas Ross is an instrumental musician and composer. His solo music ranges from hard hitting progressive metal to ambient lo-fi music and often features a combination of these elements, as can be heard in his debut EP 'Mirror Image' released in January 2022. 'Structures' is the follow up and is the first new music to be released by Nicholas since January of this year.

In addition to this solo music, Nicholas is a composer for film, game and television. Having worked on smaller university projects for the majority of his degree, 2022 saw him compose for the short film 'Mother's Lamb' which is currently in production. Upon graduating from the University of Edinburgh, Nicholas aims to continue composing music for film, game and television and is excited to work with the various musical genres required by these mediums.

Back home in Glasgow Nicholas also teaches guitar and bass and plays guitar for the thrash metal band Midir.
