Project description

This project focuses on the health and wellbeing of both students and faculty of the University because work and study can sometimes have a negative impact on their health and wellbeing.

This centre has been designed to offer more of what is needed to promote a healthier lifestyle and have a more positive impact on the wellbeing of those who choose to use this space. It was designed differently to move away from the normal esthetics of most centres which offer a more clinical approach to their design setting, making it more conducive to promoting overall comfort, while distressing and unwinding.

Cloud9 will offer a great of suites dedicated to personal wellness, these include aromatherapy suites, perfect for those with anxiety, as well as counselling rooms to give a more personal and confidential approach to both students and staff.

Site Analysis

Bristo Square is the key point of contact for new and returning students to the University of Edinburgh. The Potterrow property is located in downtown Edinburgh, immediately north of George Square. Potterrow Dome is located in the middle of the University and is a popular gathering place for students to socialize, study, and party (when nightfall). This area is also bordered by other University buildings such as McEwan Hall, Teviot Row House, and the university's visiting centre, making it a suitable site for the wellness centre.
