Project description

Crowd Reality takes inspiration from the differences between the Digital World and the Physical World in this highly-virtualised post-pandemic era, where people are going through "remote everything". What if we miss the sense of a real crowd? Thus, we created the brand Crowd Reality, offering interactive garments that can simulate crowd haptics and provide users with the sensual experience of being in a crowd. The project combines the virtual game with a physical interactive garment to depict the shift from the digital to the physical.

Crowd Reality takes inspiration from the differences between the "Digital" and the "Physical" in this highly-virtualised post-pandemic era, where people are going through "remote everything". What if we miss the sense of a real crowd? The conceptual brand Crowd Reality offers garments that can simulate crowd haptics and provide users with the sensual experience of being in a crowd.

02 CROWD REALITY (II)

Interactive Installation | Physical Computing | Video Game

In order to demonstrate this shift from the digital to the physical and to showcase the notion of Crowd Reality at the Soft Robotics Conference, the interactive installation combines the virtual game with the physical interactive clothing. When the player is walking through a crowded area of the game and bumps into a person by accident, the sensor balloon on the physical garment pops up right away to make the player feel like they really did bump into a person.

03 CROWD REALITY (III)

Audio-Visual Performance

In the concept design, the garment consists of different kinds of tactile sensors, triggering inflation and vibration to simulate various forces felt in a crowd like being bumped by the arms, being tossed by the hair, etc. And it has several scene modes like “PARTY” , “MORNING RUSH” , also “BODY DROP” function to enhance physical contact among users. We took the concept of this “PARTY” mode offline and organised an audio-visual party.

CHEMICAL GARDEN

Audio-Visual Interactive Performance

Supported by Beauty of Science and Design Informatics, with the chemical reaction "Chemical Garden" as the narrative centre, an immersive audio-visual performance was designed to manifest the artistry of science and explore the possibility of informal science education. The project aims to further investigate the future of Science Edutainment and the potential for art to shape scientific knowledge in different contexts.

DATA & ME: ORGAN CONNECTION

Movement-Sound-Image Interactive Installation

In our body, some diseases alert us to abnormalities through symptoms, but others are asymptomatic until they cause serious consequences. Organ Connection aims to create a connection between audiences and the organs of the body and help audiences rethink the importance of attention to the data of our body.
