Project description

Interior design entails providing appropriate solutions to a given space in order to facilitate people’s lives and create pleasant and functional environments. The synthesis project is an expansion of the previous semester’s master plan. It aims to enhance the quality of students’ educational experiences in university life, support their general well-being and provide them with a sense of belonging and togetherness, particularly for those living away from home. It seeks to focus specifically on designing three storeys that accommodate social and activity areas in order to foster the value of being together. The social spaces are developed with a flexible and dynamic approach to encourage students to relax, mingle, arrange events, entertain and have fun.

A Space for Mind and Soul

The proposed theme aims to adapt and re-read a space within 40 George Square in a micro-scale approach and repurpose it into a multipurpose/function space. This interior is intended for activities where a person can practice solitude, spiritual worship, mindfulness meditation, stretching or yoga, or even silence. It is a room inviting the person where emotions can be expressed, and help users clear their minds and relax for a few moments away from the busy life at the university.
