Concluding my undergraduate academic studies, this project is both a timeline and a conclusion of the past three years. It explores architecture’s interdisciplinarity and tests its relationship with its surroundings. Indeed, architecture is a reflection of society. A reflection of its history, its culture, its economy, and its values. Contradictory in its nature, architecture is ephemeral, and yet, it immortalises time and materialises its physical properties. Our site, and its architecture, are conflicted, receptive to the future and yet holding on to the past. This proposal is an attempt to bridge the gap and design the present. I do not intend to rewrite the stones of the site, but rather engage with its constraints and through them, allow new spaces to grow. The proposed design flirts with the compression and expansion of spaces, the weight of mass and void, the play of light and shadow. It provides a space tailored to cater to the imminent and current needs of its society and yet amenable enough to meet its future requirements, all while pushing the physical and conceptual boundaries of space.
