Hannah Grist uses found household objects to comment on the nature of the home. Dually referencing our collective home, Earth, as well as the more insular and personal home of the psyche, Hannah displays usually comforting objects, such as baths and radiators, in ways which infer a sense of discomfort, unease and unsettlement. As well as subtly manipulating them to exploit human consumption and idleness, dirt, stains, rust and other signs of neglect are left exposed. In so doing, found objects become physical metaphors for human action, emotion and thought, denoting topics such as the climate crisis and anxiety.
