Sophy Louise is an Illustrator working from her studio in sunny Glasgow. She works away at her desk creating colourful designs - ranging from prints, childrens books, even rugs - inspired by people’s stories and folklore. Strong ties to place and history are celebrated within her practice - from local projects highlighting Scotland and it’s people, to print collections based on ancient Greek mythologies - interesting stories are everywhere!
Sharing skills and teaching are also fundamental to Sophy Louise’s practice, as engaging with the local community inspires so much of her work. Leading workshops, on rugmaking and creative thinking through making, are her current speciality. As well as teaching and designing for her own shop, Sophy Louise works as a freelance illustrator for clients such as Macmillan, Honest History Publishing, Scottish Greens and many more.
Mythology and folklore are important themes within Sophy Louise's work, which seeks to explore intangible cultural heritage - the oral traditions and stories that form the foundations of a culture.
