Bio

My work explores the subject of place; focusing on environments and the narratives which take place within them. Informed largely by observational painting and drawing, the spaces I create are reflective of my own personal experience. I work in a variety of mediums (reduction printmaking, traditional and digital painting) which has meant each piece takes cues from various methodologies; weaving knowledge gained from one process to the other.

An insular island community’s harvest fails. As a result they hatch a magical scheme to escape to the mainland by granting themselves the power of flight, but this plan fails, leaving all but one of the inhabitants a bird. This story follows the final islander desperately working to keep their friends safe and escape the island.

This is a collection of background paintings and layouts built for the story.
