The environment secretary Michael Gove has warned that “UK is 30 to 40 years away from “the fundamental eradication of soil fertility” in parts of the country in 2020. Soil is important to us. contains plants, roots, and non-humans. It’s the matrix of all living things. However, people always ignore it. The point is that people often regard soil as dirt, while they are not the same, soil is alive while dirt is not. We often hear about the news of air pollution, and water pollution, it’s strange that people seldom talked about the soil. Thus, soil usually exists invisible. Glasgow also suffers the problems of soil fertility, what’s even worse is that Glasgow has a long industrial history in the past. The waters of the Glasgow River flow from the east to the west. Festival Park is on the downflow, Govan area. The polluted water from the upper area flowed past the Govan area in the past. The soil in the downflow has possibly been polluted with those toxic elements. Meanwhile, Festival Park is around with a science center, museum, business area, and residents. It’s a good place to gather people together for the project.
